The Queensland Wine Industry Association Inc. (QWIA) is a state body formed in 2001 to assist with the coordination of the Queensland wine industry, with the support of the Queensland Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry.
The quality of Queensland wines is now recognised as amongst the best in Australia. The industry believes that the success of the industry is through its quality product and that education and training is one of the keys to this success.
Through the Wine Industry Skills Formation Strategy, QWIA has recognised the need to form strong relationships with associated businesses and recently implemented a preferred supplier arrangement with Busy at work. Working together we hope to:
› Promote education and traineeships to the wine industry
› Promote careers in the Queensland wine industry
› Create a “one stop shop” for traineeship information and sign up
› Foster close relationships between the industry, Busy at work, High Schools, Lead Institute for Wine Training being Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE and the Queensland College of Wine Tourism
