History

BUSY Inc. is a community not for profit association established in 1977 to deliver training and employment programmes to homeless youth. BUSY is an acronym for Backing Unemployed Southport/Surfers Youth.

Since its inception BUSY has provided employers, employees, potential employees, apprentices, trainees, school students with services and skills in the areas of accredited training, job placement, career and workplace assessments, apprenticeships support services and general business consultancy.

BUSY Inc. has an establishment of 180 staff providing services in 15 offices throughout Queensland: Brisbane, Bundaberg, Dalby, Emerald, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Ipswich, Mackay, Maroochydore, Rockhampton, Roma, Springwood, Toowoomba, Townsville and our Head Office, based in Southport on the Gold Coast.

BUSY At Work, a division of BUSY Inc. is the largest Australian Apprenticeships Centre in Queensland providing accurate advice and information on employment and training for Australian Apprenticeships to a range of stakeholders including job seekers, employers and industry.

BUSY Employment Solutions, a division of BUSY Inc., initially starting its history as a Job Placement business unit, BUSY Employment Solutions has moved to a “fee for service” recruitment agency from the 1st July 2009. This encompasses an additional service which works closely with Job Services Australia providers in assisting jobseekers find employment. All the profits generated by the division will be used to undertake training and employment initiatives within the local community.

BUSY BEAT is a community work experience, pre-apprenticeships and job placement Hub based out of Ipswich, South East Queensland. The Hub operates a range of social enterprises that provide work experience, job readiness skills and job placement for local job seekers. Enterprises include a cafe, a bookstore, a recording studio, training rooms and a property maintenance business. The Hub also organises various community groups designed to engage all members of the community.

BUSY Inc. is a panel member for the Indigenous Employment Panel and the Indigenous Economic Development and Business Support Panel. The Indigenous Employment Program is an Australian Government initiative comprising of the two panels. The Indigenous Employment Panel assists employers to provide sustainable employment opportunities and prepares Indigenous Australians for work, to stay in jobs and enhance their employment prospects. The Economic Development and Business Support Panel assists Indigenous enterprises by providing strategies and services to support the viable development and sustainability of Indigenous businesses.
